Visiting Good Ole Minneapolis

It's amazing what traveling on your own can do. I have met people from all over the world and each training I have been to has lead me back to visit the beautiful souls I met while on the road.

This week, I have ventured to Minneapolis for The Mind-Body Medicine Foundations training and with it, I was able to visit one of my best friends, Katie! Katie and I met at the Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas. Our stories were similar and our reasons for taking flight were one in the same. Katie was my rock in my time of need, taking care of me when I came down with the flu and became my caregiver when I was struck my a stingray a week later. I couldn't imagine the Bahamas without her nor, this trip.

The Center for Mind-Body Medicine training was one of the best experiences of my life and one of the most draining. To understand the fundamentals of what we would be performing, we had to undergo the therapies ourselves, diving deep within our own souls. Learning to communicate and heal through holistic modalities, meditation, guided imagery, self expression (drawings and subconscious writing), breathing and movement techniques, biofeedback and autogenic training. Through the process one begins to shed their layers, uncovering pieces of themselves they might never have discovered. For me, I laughed, cried and cried some more, feeling that I had rediscovered part of myself I thought I had buried years ago.
