Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga involves holding restorative, non-muscular poses for longer periods of time to gently stretch and lengthen connective tissues. A perfect compliment to your Yang (vinyasa) practice. This class creates strength, openness, and healing deep in the joints, ligaments, and tendons. Students can create a wider range of motion, find more depth in postures, and increase stamina, energy, and equanimity through Yin Yoga.
Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for longer periods of time— it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes to five minutes. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.
